Rod Sheather won the Area 32 International Speech Competition with “The Things That Make Us”. This is a moving and inspiring speech given from the heart of personal experience. It gives us insight into one of the influences on Rod’s life that led him to become a paramedic. Rod will be performing this speech again at the Northern Division Conference, Cairns in March 2011.
Rod also came second in the Humorous Speech Competition with “Matador Goes To Town”. And first-time contestant Leisel Pisani came second in the Table Topics contest where she was required to speak on “The Truth Shall Set You Free” for two minutes. Mr Truth and Miss Politeness went head to head in a boxing ring in Leisel’s energetic speech. Congratulations Leisel for some clever tactics and
sporting achievement.
A hearty congratulations to Rod and Leisel for representing Mt Sheridan Toastmasters with such courage and charisma, and for keeping our winning tradition alive!
And might I add that Celia did an excellent job as the Humorous Contest Chairman.
Thanks to all my friends at toastmasters for your support and encouragement. Pretty happy with second at my first area conference comp. Rod is a champ and look forward to him representing us in March.
See you all this Thursday night.
Keep smiling 🙂
